Hybrid GPS/GALILEO receiver development in real environment

Résumé traduit

GPS system modernization and the future European Galileo project give new and attractive prospects to the field of radionavigation. In this special context, all research
dealing with the combination of the two systems will be considered with great interests.

Because of these considerations, LACIME laboratory at the ETS has started the Software Defined Navigation (SDN) project. lts main goal is the development of a platform for design of navigation systems based on GPS and Galileo. The first step consists of developing a complete GPS/Galileo reception line, from the satellites constellation to the determination of the navigation solution. The second step is the realtime implementation of these developments on reprogrammable hardware, like DSP and FPGA.

My research, the development of a hybrid GPS/Galileo receiver in real environment, represents the first phase of the SDN project. Only based on Matlab-Simulink software,
the simulator that I have implemented consists of two main parts: a GPS LlC and Galileo El signal generator, and the hybrid GPS/Galileo receiver.

In this thesis, the implementation of the signal generator is presented, including the constellation generator and the use of realistic receiver trajectories. Then, hybrid GPS/
Galileo receiver software structure and its validation in simulation are presented. Finally, there is a validation of the GPS part of the hybrid receiver, using true GPS data collected by a GPS Ll generator (GSS7700 by Spirent).

The simulations of this hybrid GPS/Galileo software receiver implemented on Matlab-Simulink give interesting results, shown in this thesis. Validation by simulation of the complete hybrid receiver and validation with real GPS data of the GPS part of the receiver constitute a solid basis for future developments. Using of first real Galileo
signals to validate the Galileo part of the hybrid software receiver will constitute the final step of the first phase of the SDN project.
